Boating:
The park offers boaters a 102 acre
lake with a
ten horsepower limit.
2 launch ramps
provide access to the lake. Boat rentals and
seasonal dock rentals are offered.
Fishing and Hunting: The lake offers a variety of fish species which
include largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill,
trout, and catfish. You can fish from the
shore or from a boat. Hunting is permitted in designated areas of the park
or near by at
Shade River State Forest,
which has
2859 acres. A valid Ohio
hunting and/or fishing license is required.
Swimming: A 400 foot public swimming beach offers enjoyment for swimmers and
sunbathers. Snacks and
souvenirs are provided at
the campstore.
Trails: Backpackers can enjoy 4 miles of hiking trails.
Picnicking: Picnic areas are located in scenic areas of the park and offer tables and grills. There are 2 shelter houses which can be reserved for your enjoyment.
Wildlife Watching: The park epitomizes the wilderness character of southeast Ohio. The park offers 791 acres of woodlands which support a variety of wildlife including white-tailed deer, ruffed grouse, box turtles and the elusive wild turkey. The lake's shore is inhabited by the industrious beaver and various waterfowl species.
Disc Golf: The park offers an 24 basket course for the game of Disc golf (also called Frisbee Golf). This course has been rated one of the top 3 courses in Ohio by other disc golfers. Disc game in which individual players throw a flying disc into a basket. The object of the game is to play the course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc.
